Spokane Fire Department Foundation

Our Mission

Supporting the work of the City of Spokane Fire Department programs and personnel for a more resilient community and furthering the well-being of our SFD members.

Community Support

We provide support for our community members through several different programs: Community Risk Reduction, CARES Program, and the Cup & Flowers Fund.

Support Our Vision

We strive to meet the needs of public service in our community

Budgetary constraints make it increasingly difficult for the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) to secure the funds necessary to meet the needs of public service in our community. Through financial contributions, The SFD Foundation helps to ensure that SFD continues to provide the best-in-class non-emergency outreach program for all Spokane’s residents, from fire prevention, education in schools, to community response (CARES) team to older adult falls prevent to smoke alarm distribution.

Our Programs

rows of new fire alarm packages

Community Risk Reduction Program

Funds are returned directly to our low-income, high fire risk residents by purchasing smoke alarms that they could not otherwise afford.  A small portion of donated funds support Jr Fire Academy (a free, safety themed day for families in downtown Spokane), as well as work with kids, and falls prevention programming for low-income older adults.

CARES Program

CARES funds are used to support the CARES program which serves community members who frequently use emergency services.  Examples include: small durable medical equipment items to help low-income community members remain safely in their residence of choosing.

Cup-&-Flowers-family

Cup & Flowers Program

Funds support the well-being of the hard-working members of the Spokane Fire Department, honoring milestones in their career and lives and celebrating new additions to the SFD family.

Our History

The Foundation was founded in 2002 as a non-profit arm of the Spokane Fire Department

The Spokane Fire Department Foundation (SFD Foundation, or the Foundation) was established in 2002 as a non-profit 501(3) Foundation to provide an avenue for the community to assist in the mission and our passionate commitment to saving lives. Since then, it’s been serving a vital role filling the funding gap for outreach activities provided by Spokane Fire Department.
